Sessions
SEPTEMBER 1 & 8
Most people know that Jesus talked a lot about money and possessions. There are over 2,000 verses on money. Why? It plays a large role in people’s lives, and it is one of the most difficult aspects for most people to honor God with. This program not only provides Biblical reference on such topics as budgeting, asset management, taxes and handling your estate but also the practical application of each topic.
SEPTEMBER 1 & 8
Theologically, the Flood was an act of judgement, mercy, salvation and restoration wrought through water. Science has cast doubt on the very existence of the flood, reckoned it to be a local event, deemed the ark inadequate and questioned the veracity of the Biblical narrative. However, reason and faith need not be abandoned in embracing the Flood as a scientifically significant historical event.
SEPTEMBER 15
In a fast paced and constantly advancing world, learn what threats your home is facing and some practical ways to ensure your family is safe. This class will include the safety of your physical house, as well as the loved ones that are inside. We will cover exterior, interior, and internet safety.
SEPTEMBER 15
Rearing good children has always been a difficult task and the heart desire of most every parent. However, sometimes we feel so inadequate and it seems like our best efforts aren’t quite good enough. How can parents raise godly kids in a culture like ours? God knew when He gave you your child/ren that you would be their parent. He doesn’t make mistakes and He will help you in this challenging duty. This class will give you ideas, encouragement and renewed inspiration.
We will cover topics like how to lead your child; the parental manual; your first parental priority; social medias; discipline, education and devotional ideas.
SEPTEMBER 22
God expects Christians to be good stewards of our families, money, time and talents. Part of this task involves adequately protecting those resources that God has entrusted us with. As God’s priest commanded His people in 2 Kings 11:6, “so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.” In the modern world, “watch of the house” often involves countering threats to our personally identifying and financial information and avoiding the very real danger of identity theft. In this class, we will highlight the challenges of doing this in an increasingly data driven society with a focus on the protections available to those faced with this challenge and practical steps to avoid or respond to such threats.
SEPTEMBER 22
Financial Stewardiship begins in Proverbs with the definitions and importance of
knowledge, wisdom and understanding: These lead to understanding finances from God’s point of view and agreeing with God regarding our finances and stewardship)
We will discuss how discipline in finances leads to financial freedom. We will identify tools that can assist in that financial discipline. We will discuss past and current events and how they might influence financial perspectives.
SEPTEMBER 22
Everything you do affects your health: posture, sleep, workout, cheat meals, 8 hr. workdays, injuries and everything in between. It’s time we started seeing how every decision influences our health. We all desire to have strength of days to serve the Lord and others, but how do we lengthen our days of strength to serve even longer? We will investigate the intricacies of how everything we do affects our body.
SEPTEMBER 29
Financial stewardship is more than just a focus on our tithes and offerings, but involves how we are utilizing the other resources that God has entrusted us with.
What would happen if you or a family member sustained a significant loss due to an
accident or event? Do you have the proper insurance protection to take care of your family and others in the event of such a loss so that you or they can be economically stable?
Join us on Wednesday, Sep. 29th as we examine the elements of a sound insurance strategy, including automobile insurance, homeowners insurance, liability protection and life insurance.
SEPTEMBER 29
Christian apologetics seeks to examine the question of God’s existence through the construction of formal arguments like the cosmological, moral, ontological and the fine-tuning of the universe, as well as several others which would include the problem of evil and the resurrection of Jesus.
In this session we can only scratch the surface of the discipline at the introductory level. But I hope to at least present the basics of the Kalam cosmological argument to whet your appetite for further study. Perhaps there will be time for a question or two!
SEPTEMBER 29
How can we as Christians lead in a way that would honor Christ in our secular positions? With thousands of books written by many leadership gurus over the years, we will see how they align with the Bible and the greatest leader of all time, Jesus Christ. Surprisingly, leading biblically is a great testimony and is not generally rejected, because it works!
